Zamaswazi Majozi has appeared in the Magistrates Court on Monday, has been charged with inciting violence through her social media account, there has been a statement that has been shared by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation. Majozi has been stated to have circulated content that has resulted in the shooting and burning which occurred at the Brookside Mall in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Majozi is the person who is being stated to be behind the Twitter account which is @_AfricanSoil.
The account is the leading voice which is in the Radical Economic Transformation and she has used the Twitter account and remained anonymous as she was defending and another former President Jacob Zuma and was fiercely attacking her critics, there is a Facebook profile which has shown she was previously working for communications and marketing business.
This has been confirmed by the company and other online records which are directed towards Majozi. It seems like her alter ego is not that evident when it comes to her Whatsapp and Facebook profiles. It seems like she is keeping her political secrets well hidden or it could be that she has sold her account after she created it which means there could be someone else who is probably controlling her account.
However, her arrest has been confirmed by her husband and he stated there is going to be a statement which is going to be issued by Thabo Mtsweni who is the founder of a civil society organization that has been pretty active when it comes to the support of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane. She was granted a bail of R 3,000 on condition that she will have to surrender her passport and she is going to be reporting to the nearest police station daily and the case has been postponed to 18th October.
It seems it is unclear whether the prosecutors are having direct evidence of Majozi as they have called her out for spreading violence or whether they are going to be relying on the Twitter posts which are public. There has been a statement which has been issued by Carl Niehaus on Sunday in which he has called the arrests of Majozi politically motivated.
There has been investigation which has been done by Ama Bhungane in which he has found out about the anonymous accounts which the political parties set up to influence people in the wrong manner and to stir up situations as they are planning and plotting to infest the minds of people in order to create some situation which can be termed as critical.
