Kamogelo stated “We are hurt. Cut deep. Empty. Family and friends, sadly my little brother, Thapelo Maropefela, left us in the early hours of today. Please give me and my family some personal space to arrange and process everything.”

In the post of an Instagram handle, Kamogelo stated the story of Thapelo “was not meant to conclude soon. Especially not on the eve of your 25th Birthday.” She further added that “We think about you today and forever. We will try to commemorate you in our morning… So tough and difficult for me to say “rest easy” as it was not your time to rest yet. However, Kamogelo did not mention the cause of his brother’s sudden demised, and not no other sources disclosed the reason for Thapelo Maropefela’s death.
