Steve had been a key part of so many broadcasts. He was loved and respected by the NASCAR community. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
His passing news occurred after he was reportedly seen in a critical condition and placed on a ventilator about a month ago, Anchor Mark Garrow wrote “Steve Richards has helped produce my radio show for well over 2 decades, has been a PRN pit reporter for many years and more importantly is a good guy. Because of Covid he’s now in critical condition and was put on a ventilator this morning. Please lift him up in your prayers.”

He’s a fighter and is giving it his all to overcome but he has been placed in a medically-induced coma in an effort to heal his lungs.”

Admitted into the hospital before Thanksgiving, Steve has been fighting for his life with blood oxygen levels dipping to 87 percent and developing both bacterial and COVID-19 pneumonia.
