He began his career in racing in the early 1960s when he attended the Charles Mortimer Race School at Brands Hatch race circuit in 1965. Firstly, he bought Bultaco which was extremely expensive and unreliable. Later, he rid several of machinery in different classes on the UK short-circuits. He has won 250 cc class at the Stars of Tomorrow meeting on 03 July 1966 at Mallory Park.
