Who was Katarzyna Kobro?

Katarzyna Kabro is a polish sculptor. he was born in a Russian multinational family on January 26th, 1898 in Moscow. her father belongs to a German family living in Latvia and her mother was Russian.

Katarzyna’s daughter, Nika Strzeminska told, Katarzyna was started sculpting in secondary school in bread and plaster. because she was very interested in sculpting, she was appointed at the Moscow Architecture in 1917,

The sculpture created her first sculpture in 1920, which had called Tos 75 – Struktura, Unfortunately, the artwork was lost and the only trace of it remained a photograph.

Her other works are Kompozycja absstakcyjna (Abstract Composition) and the architectural projects Projekt Kabiny tytoniowej (project for Tobacco Cabin) which she made with her husband Wladyslaw Strzeminski. she also left a trace in the modern art field with her most famous series Kompozycja Przestrzenna (Spatial Composition) which puts an emphasis on open spaces.

Her theoretical ideas were collected in the 1931 book Composition of Space: Calculations of space-Time Rhythm which she co-wrote with her husband.

Who was Katarzyna Kobro?

Katarzyna Kobro was a Police avant-garde sculptor and a famous representative of the Constructivist. movement in Poland. She was born on 26 January 1898 in Moscow, Russian Empire. She belonged to a mixed German and Russian heritage family. In the 1920s, she immigrated to Poland where she had done most of her work. She was married to her husband, Wladyslaw Strzeminski with whom she worked on the concept of Spatiality by prefabricated elements and industrial or handmade products into sculpture as well as incorporating spatial composition.

Katarzyna Kobro Cause of Death?

Kobro’s mother Evgenia Rozanov was Russian, while her father Nikolai Alexander Michael von Kobro belonged to Baltic Germans. She spent the early years of her life in Riga, later, she shifted to Moscow in 1915. She was a member of the Moscow Union of Artists with Olga Rozanova, Vladimir Tatlin, Kazimir Malevich, Alexander Rodchenko, and many others. She also studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. In 1924, she and her husband obtained Polish citizenship.

How did Katarzyna Kobro die?

The pair made their career in the small Polish town of Szczekociny. Later, they shifted to Koluszki where they served as teachers. After two years, they co-founded the Praesens Group with architects Szymon Syrkus and Bohdan Lachert but left it due to content differences in 1929. They also joined the Abstraction-Creation group in the year 1932. She was not so famous in the US, as we told you above, but the reason behind it was that most of her work was ruined in the course of World War II. Her work was described as minimal, striking, and elegant. She has passed away on 221 February 1951 at the age of 53 in Lodz, Poland.
