The Hawks organization is trying to call Verklan one of the biggest Hawks fans of all time. He loved Hawks but he also just loved his own life. The most surprising thing was that he always had a big smile on his face twenty-four seven and wanted fist-bumps every day. It’s the little things that I will miss, and it was the little things that make him to the next level and also special. Johnson took time yesterday to contact former billets and staff to make sure they know what happened and to make sure that they were doing alright.

Everybody is shocked and devastated because he was a guy you met once and he remembered you and you remembered him, he left an impression on you when you met him according to Johnson. The local Co-op grocery store has been blessed with having Verklan on staff, and they are also grateful for his presence in the store. Emma Galloway, the Hawks’ athletic therapist, and equipment manager has worked closely with Verklan for the past nine years.
