As per preliminary details, Ranjan shot out his colleagues with his service weapon which is an AK-47 rifle directing to the demised of 4 of his colleagues and three suffered bullet wounds as per the statement given by IG Bastar Sundarraj P stated. The government of Chattisgarh ordered an inquiry in the indiscriminate case of firing which has happed at the time of the wee hours of Monday morning at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 50th Battalion camp.

Out of these three, 2 Jawans having major bullet injuries were airlifted to Raipur to provide better treatment in the meantime, one Jawan has been received treatment at Bhadrachalam, Sunil Sharma, SP Sukma stated while talking to media. The SP stated that “We have got the information of the firing incident around 2:30-03:00 AM in the night and instantly rushed for rescue. In the spite of we sped up the works of rescue, 2 of the Jawans have passed away on the spot, rest of the 2 jawans succumbed to wounds in the middle of the rescue operations.

Though, after the incident, the Jawan Reetesh arraigned for shooting at the camp was instantly apprehended and his interrogation is underway as per said by SP.

A spokesperson of CRPF said, “The local police have started an investigation and all legal action will follow. CRPF has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the reason for the incident and suggest remedial measures. Prima facie, it looks like that due to some emotional stress directing to sudden psychological imbalance, constable Reetesh Ranjan lost his control and in a fit of rage opened fire on his colleagues.”

He further stated that the CRPF deputy inspector general (DIG), Commandant of the 50th battalion in which the shooting incident took place, and other senior officers, are present at the incident site. Another officer stated the arraigned Jawan was to start his sentry post duty from 04:00 AM, but soon after getting ready he sprayed bullets on his colleagues who were sleeping at that time.

In the meantime, the government of Chattisgarh released the information of the deceased and wounded and said, out of four 3 of the demised Jawan are from Bihar and one from West Bengal. Dharmendra Kumar, Rajmani Kumar Yadav, and Dhanji are from Bihar, and Rajib Mondal residents of West Bengal have passed away in this incident.
