Police says, The 48-year-old Iannazzo informed police he was upset as “his son having a serious allergic reaction and he went back to the store as a consequence. At the time of the probe, employees informed that Iannazo never informed them about the peanut allergy but had only requested that there be no peanut butter in his drink.”
As per police, investigating officers were called to the home of Iannazzo around 01:39 PM for a juvenile who had an allergic reaction and had to be instantly taken to the local hospital. The police of Fairfield said Iannazzo then come back to the store and threw things, shouted at employees, and denied leaving. He also made statements regarding the immigration status of one of the workers, directing to the hate crime charge, stated by police.
The attorney of Iannazzo, Frank Riccio II stated in a released statement, “Mr. Iannazzo heartfelt regrets the incident that has happened at the Fairfield Robeks on Saturday, 22nd January 2022. Mr. Iannazzo placed an order at the Robeks and stressed to the working staff that the product must not have or contain peanuts in it. His receipt acknowledges that the order should not contain peanut butter in it. His son has a life-menacing allergy to peanuts.”
Riccio, a Bridgeport-based lawyer further added, “Upon drinking the Robeks smoothie, his son had a serious allergic reaction which obtained transport through ambulance to the hospital. When faced with the dire situation of his son, the parental instinct of Mr. Iannazzo kicked in and he acted out of fear and anger. He is not a racist person and deeply regrets his actions and statements at the time of the moment of high emotional stress.”
A spokesperson for Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, Bill Haldin, stated in a statement, “Our firm does not tolerate this kind of behavior. We instantly probed and have taken action. This individual is no longer worked or employed at our company.”
