As per the report of the Mesquite Police Department, a Mesquite police officer was lethally wounded in a gunfight outside a grocery store parking lot on Friday afternoon, 3rd December 2021. The injured officer has passed away while being treated at Baylor Scott and White Center which is in Dallas, as per the Mesquite Police Chief, David Gill. According to Mesquite Police Capt. Later on, the cop and the suspect were brought to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. The officer was shot two times, but the suspect was only hit once. After that shooting, the cop is no longer alive. The suspect, though is being admitted to the hospital with gunshot injuries.

As per Gill, the cop suspected of being Richard Houston hailed from Texas was a good friend and a nice police officer. He asked that they recall him and his family in their prayers. Similarly, the person suspected of the firing was in a critical condition with a gunshot injury during the incident. His identity has not yet been disclosed.
