As per the sources, the victim sustained many critical wounds after she jumped from the gumuta of the 12th-century shrine in the afternoon. She was rescued by the police and was instantly rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital, where the doctor pronounced her brought dead. Dr Chandra Sekhar Nag stated that “She had a fracture on her skull and deep deadly wounds on other parts of the body. The body has been sent for an autopsy after she was declared dead.”
Singhadwara Police Station IIC Gokula Ranjan Das informed that “We instantly rushed the injured to hospital where doctors declared her dead on the spot. A case has been lodged at the police station. Her motive and on what circumstances she jumped from the gumuta is yet to be ascertained.”

According to the reports, the lady climbed up to the Gumuta of the Singhadwara after approaching there through the Ananda Bazar. There when she was attempting to reach the gumuta, some people attempted to stop her, though she did not pay heed to them and jumped from the Gumuta in a try to suicide. After this incident, Police instantly sent her to the hospital in an ambulance but she was already dead.
The identity of the deceased was yet to be issued, till the last reports came in. Some servitors stated she reached the gumuta by walking on the boundary wall from Anadabazar of the temple. The reason behind her drastic step was not known yet. This tragic incident has raised several questions. In presence of so many people and security arrangements, how could she managed to lurk into the gumuta is the very first question. Cops have stated that it is also yet to be ascertained whether the dead person is a lady or a transgender.
