Penning on the Telegram application, opposition politician Lev Shlosberg stated it had been filmed “with respect toward us, Russian people”. Mr. Shlosberg stated, “Arnold Schwarzenegger has a unique ability to talk to anyone with persuasion, respect and on equal terms. Wits, justice, and power. Have a listen. Think about it. Understand.”

Also on Telegram, liberal reporter Anton Orekh stated his message contained no “Russophobia”. Mr. Orekh stated, “We are outcasts in the world…Arnold is one of the few people who addressed Russians, not as savage orcs, but as good people who have lost their ways.” But a pro-Kremlin spoof account, Barack Obmana on Twitter, derided it, stating that “the opinion of paid United States talking heads” mattered little to Russians.

Russia has unfailingly started the war in Ukraine as a “special operation” to safeguard Russian talking Ukrainians. But in his video, Schwarzenegger stated the Kremlin was lying to Russians when it stated the invasion was intended to “denazify” Ukraine. Hollywood actor, is one of the few accounts followed by the Kremlin’s official Russian and English language Twitter accounts. In the 9-minute video, which also views the footage of the destruction in Ukraine, the actor-turned-politician calls on people to watch through disinformation and propaganda. He says “I am speaking to you today because there are things going on in the world that are being kept from you, terrible things that you should know about.”
