It looks like Vivo has been planning to introduce a new elevating selfie camera for their upcoming Apex 2019 smartphone, that is all set to be officially announced on Thursday, the January 24 in China. The company recently published a teaser for this phone on their social media platforms, wherein the company was seen revisiting the progression of their elevating selfie camera. Originally, Vivo had shown the elevating selfie camera as a part of their concept phone, the Vivo Apex, at the Mobile World Congress last year and a new version of the same phone has appeared in the consumer version of the Apex, and will be known as “Nex”.
A teaser video which was published by Vivo on Monday indicates that the Chinese smartphone maker is all set to showcase their next-generation elevating selfie camera implementation as a part of the Vivo Apex 2019 smartphone. The phone has been scheduled to be unveiled during a press event in China on January 24, but no details regarding the timing of the launch has been revealed as of now.
In a Facebook post, the company wrote thus- “In 2018, we pioneered the #ElevatingFrontCamera with our #APEX concept phone at #MWC. Within just a few months, we have successfully mass-produced it with our #NEX smartphone during the #FIFAWorldCup. Now, get ready for #2019.“
The teaser video also gave a brief glimpse to the position of the elevating camera, that has been placed on the right side, which is to its left placement in Vivo Apex/ Nex phones. The last shot of the video showed an outline of the upcoming Apex 2019, that is completely in sync with the previously leaked renders of the phone. The previous leaks suggested that Vivo Apex 2019 will come with a liquid-metal chassis that will have rounded corners and curved back. The phone might also have non-existent bezels. A previous rumor indicated the phone would carry the model number EKI1831.
No information regarding the availability or pricing of the upcoming phone has been made, but never mind, the announcement is less than a day away.
