The decision of Parson stems from a car accident he was engaged in January 2020, for which he recently settled a wound lawsuit that concluded his professional basketball career. Parsons wrote on his IG account which reads that “It has been a crazy last couple years and has put a lot of things in perspective. I have has so many ups and downs and am thankful for every single one of them. My whole life all I wanted to be was an NBA player. I did not even realize or think what came with that, I just wanted to compete and play basketball at the highest level and I can proudly say, I did THAT!
“I sure will miss it, the movie sessions, the flights, the matches, but am so excited for the new and next chapter of my life. Thank you everyone and love you all. CP25.” He further added, “It was not perfect, but it was a blast and I want to take a moment to thank every single person who assisted me to reach my dreams.”

At the time of his NBA career, Parsons played for Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks, the latter being the team he was playing for when he suffered a car accident. In his 9 seasons, Parsons averaged 12.7 points, 2.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds, in addition to 37.3% from 3-point range, one of his greatest strengths on the court.
In the year 2020, CP was driving in his Rolls-Royce when he was collided by an alleged drunk driver…suffering a brain injury, torn labrum, and disc herniation. In the spite of the accident, Parsons was working to come back on the court. In fact, he told the news website in the month of November that he was training to come back to the game, but said the process was “pretty intense”.
