Vereeniging Businessman Kidnapped: After a great attempt, a Vereeniging businessman has been retrieved unharmed at the time of an intelligence-driven operation by the National Crime Intelligence Anti-Kidnapping Task Team. Colonel Athlenda Mathe stated that “The national crime intelligence anti-kidnapping task team has made yet another breakthrough in less than 5 days after a Vereeniging businessman, Zaher Asmal, was abducted at his business premises on Friday morning. The team dived in at 3 identified addresses, one in Lenasia South where the sufferer was discovered unharmed. At this address, cops apprehended the owner of the property, a 70-year-old Mozambican national.”

Mathe stated authorities pounced on 2 other properties and apprehended two more people in link with the abducting of Asmal. “In Ennerdale, they discovered a dark grey Toyota Hilux and fake registration number plates which were utilized in the commission of the crime. One suspect, a Malawian national, was detained. When cops reached the 3rd address in Roodepoort, cops were met with gunfire. One suspect, a South African national, was apprehended. One unlicensed weapon was also captured.”

Mathe stated all 3 suspects are facing charges connecting to abducting and robbery with aggravated circumstances. While the South African nation is facing additional charges of possession of an unlicensed weapon as well as attempted killing. In the past week, the task team had apprehended at least 8 suspects, including a 37-year-old man believed to be the mastermind, and claimed kingpin behind a spate of high-profile abducting in Mozambique and Gauteng.
