Vaishno Devi Death List: Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Stampede Victims Name and Photos: Sudden mass panic on Saturday at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine was reported due to a heavy rush of visitors on the first date of the year 2022. Usually, devotees trek a height of 13km from base camp in Katra to the hilltop shrine while some take the help of airlifts to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The report is that a minimum of 12 people died and more than 12 devotees were injured in the stampede which took place at Jammu and Kashmir in Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on Saturday. Director-General of Police Dilbag Singh said that there was a little conflict among some young fellows which led to the stampede at the shrine. Officials also reported that they were so quick to respond to the bustle but till then the damage has been done. The incident took place at gate number three of the shrine at 2.30 a.m. The sanctum is at top of the hill Trikuta about 50 km distance from Jammu. Seniors of the officials said in the report that the death toll of the stampede is 12 and their bodies were transferred to the base camp for identification and who got bruised due to stampede have been hospitalized in Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital for treatment but two of fifteen injured are in serious condition.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh turn out to the Katra as he got to know about the incident and later published the list of deceased because of the incident and told that casualties were of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Jammu-Kashmir. Out of twelve casualties eight have been identified as Dheeraj Kumar, Vaneet Kumar, Dharmveer Singh, Sonu Pandey, Shweta Singh, Mamta, Viney Kumar, and Arun Pratap Singh. Yatra was halted for a while but later resumed after the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the loss at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on Twitter and showed his condolences to the deceased’s families by tweeting that extremely saddened by the deaths due to the bustle at the shrine and my condolences are with their families and may be injured recover soon. The PM also announced Rs 2 lakh to each family who lose their beloved ones as an ex-gratia and Rs 50k who was injured in the incident from PMNRF. While Jammu-Kashmir’s Lt. Governor also declared relief compensation of Rs 10 lakh to those who lost their family member and Rs 2 lakh to those who were injured in the stampede.
