Her husband said after a short illness, she had died. She was declared dead in Chicago hospital. Her husband Drahozal and her sister Alice Durham was with her in the hospital, when she last breathes. Dianne Durham was the first African American senior, who won the title of national Gymnastics championship of the USA. She was also an innovator in sports.

Dianne Durham was a gymnast, who was born in June 1968 in Gary, Indiana. She started her training for gymnastics at the age of 4. In 1981, she has started her training on the next level of gymnastics by coach Bela Karolyi. Dianne was the first student of Bela, who was the first elite American gymnast. She was a very talented and graceful student. She participated in many international Championships such as Japan, Belgium, and China. She won the title of the junior elite championship in 1981 and also secured the title in 1983 as well. She has also worked as a gymnastics teacher at a school named Morgan Park academy.
In the same year, she also becomes the first black woman, who won the USA Gymnastics National Championship. After that, she also won the silver medal in the McDonalds International Competition. In 1983, Dianne Durham got an ankle injury following a competition. Because of that injury, She couldn’t participate in the world championships. But she didn’t stop her training and took part in Chunichi Cup in which she gave a very tough competition to all participants and won the silver medal. In her career, she worked as a judge and also went for freelance coaching.
