Suncor Death 2022: Worker killed, 2 injured, in truck crash in Alberta: One more death news has been reported due to the collide accident. As per the media reports, one man is passed away and 2 other individuals are wounded after a lethal collision Thursday morning, 6th January 2022 between 2 haul trucks and this incident has happened at Suncor’s Base Plant north of Fort McMurray which is in Alta. RCMP is currently investigating the collision as stated by the spokesperson Cpl. Lacey Blair. Preliminary investigation of the case has discovered that two heavy haulers crashed in the open mine of the site, RCMP stated in a news release Thursday afternoon, 6th January 2022. One drive whose age was around a 51-year-old man from Fort McMurray passed away at the scene.
A man and a woman were in the second hauler. As soon as the incident was reported, the lady was treated on-site. The man was taken to Northern Lights Regional Hospital with minor wounds as stated by RCMP. North American Construction Group Ltd. (NACG) asserted in a statement that the man who passed away was a contractor for the firm.
Joe Lambert, president, and CEO of NACG stated in a released statement that “I and our whole NACG family are deeply shocked and saddened by this unexpected and tragic loss of our co-worker and friend. No words will ease or lessen the pain of loss for the family and friends of our cherished co-worker but we will do everything we can to support them at the time of this tough time.”
Carley Robertson, Suncor spokesperson stated that the incident has happened at 06:30 AM. She stated that “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of those involved. Occupational Health and Safety investigators and RCMP are at the incident spot.”
Robertson stated that “At this time we are just really focused on taking care of our people that were engaged in the incident as well as the colleagues and the other employees that work at the site, making ensure that they have the support and resources that they require in order to cope.”
On the 28th of December 2020, 2 people passed away at Suncor’s Fort Hills site. A man passed away at the Base Plant site on the 13th of January 2021.
Robertson stated of Thursday’s fatality that “Obviously this is really concerning to us. Definitely, it is something that we will be taking a very close look at and attempting to determine why-why this incident occurred and anything that we can do in order to prevent something similar in the future.”
