Who Is Sjoerd den Daas?

The whole incident was captured live on camera as den Daas was pulled away from the National Stadium entrance and guards blocked the camera.  den Daas stated while still live on air that “We are now being dragged out of here. We have just been expelled from another area, so I am afraid we will have to come back to you later.”

Briefly, after the video started gaining traction on social media, NOS tweeted, “Our correspondent @sjoerddendaas was dragged away from the camera by security guards at around 12:00 PM live in the NOS Journaal. Sadly, this is increasingly becoming a daily reality for reporters in China. He is fine and was able to conclude his story a few minutes later.”

The interruption reported came from a man wearing a black jacket and around his sleeve wearing a red band, which comes up to distinguish him from a “Public Security Volunteer,” a citizen-direct neighborhood watch established to aid police to maintain order, as per The Daily Mail. The controversial and sensational video has gathered hunters of thousands of views at present. NOS editor-in-chief Marcel Gelauff called the entire incident a “painful illustration” of how the foreign press is treated in the country of China.

Gelauff informed Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, as cited by Insider that “There is a far-reaching tendency to shorten liberties, and this may be even stronger due to COVID-10. I have not spoken to Sjoerd yet, but from what I watched on the photos I did not get the idea that he was in the way.”

The Winter Olympics of 2022 started on Friday in the middle of growing outrage over the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Chinese regime in Xinjiang. That stated, the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was criticized on social media after the shocking video footage became viral. The lawyer Jenna Ellis wrote a tweet that “The CCP has started to take its tips from the media enforces of Biden.”
