Tech giant, Google will soon be rolling out a redesign on the Assistant app which will bring in the controls and buttons closer. They have been reportedly testing this new design for several weeks. The basic functionality of Google Assistant will remain the same, but the revamped design will give a unique look and feel to the app. Google Assistant will also include rounded corners for all the cards.

9to5Google noted– The new design will bring about the Panel and Explore buttons to the bottom row of the main Panel screen. The Explore button will be moved to the right-hand side whereas the Panel button will be housed on the left side. The updated Google Assistant design will be rolled out to the users with the latest stable version of the Google app (v8.91)

But a few changes might annoy some users as well. The Google Lens button and keyboard icons have been placed very close to the microphone. Hence, when a user taps on the microphone icon, it might take over the Google Lens button and keyboard icons. The user will need to tap on the microphone icon twice to pick Lens or keyboard.

The redesigned compact controls will be seen on every Assistant interface. The latest stable version of the Google app (v8.91) will see a revamped new Google Assistant, and the Assistant panel will be receiving rounded corners with the help of the Google app 9.0 which is currently in the beta stage.

Apart from this, Google might have also been working on a dark mode for Google Assistant. Previous Android Q leaks almost confirmed a system-wide dark mode on Google’s next mobile operating system. The company might also come out with an update for Google Assistant’s dark mode.

Google Assistant’s interface has remained white for a long time. The Google app is currently in the beta version and will soon roll out with the cards and will come with a black background and white text on top of it. This interface can be used by the users by turning on the battery saver mode on the phone or switch on the ‘Night mode’ in Android Pie’s developer options. These changes have been spotted on Google app version 9.5. These changes were seen in the beta release and no confirmation regarding whether or not the changes will be released in the stable release have been provided.
