Montreal Firefighter Death In Rescue Mission: There has been a sad demise of a firefighter after he was thrown into the St. Lawrence River which happened during a rescue mission on Sunday night, this has been announced on Monday by the authorities, it has been further stated by the Montreal Chief naming Richard Liebmann who has stated that the body of Pierre Lacroix who is a married father of two. His body has been recovered from the water with the help of the Montreal police divers on Monday the morning, he was transported to a hospital where it was confirmed that he has died at 9:25 am, Lacroix was at the age of 58, he was one of the four fighters who were dispatched shortly after 7:00 pm on Sunday.

They were sent to rescue the occupants of a boat which found trouble near the Lachine rapids in Southwest Montreal, has been stated by Liebmann that there were two people who were in distress at the time, they were drifting towards the rapids when the rescue boat made contact with them, shortly after which the boat got capsized.
There were other three firefighters and the two people who they originally sent out to save the situation, they were quickly rescued, the search for Lacroix continued in the night but he was nowhere to be found at the time. Boats from the fire departments from the neighboring communities participated in the search, they were teaming up with the police divers under the boat until it got stabilized.
The mayor naming Valerie Plante has offered her condolences to the Lacroix family and these colleagues as he was praising his courage and his selfless nature. He stated he died doing what he trained for, something which he truly believed was the right thing to do, saving other people’s lives even if he has to sacrifice his own for the sake of the cause of saving others.
The three other firefighters have been released from the hospital overnight and it has been noticed that Lacroix is the first firefighter from Montreal who has died in the line of duty since the year 2012, it is sad to see a firefighter die like this, he gave his life to save the lives of others which makes him a true firefighter, our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of the deceased and our condolences are with the whole department.
