Is Mika Salamanca Arrested?

As per the reports, Filipina Youtuber and singer Mika Salamanca got arrested on 24 July 2020, Friday by Honolulu officials for breaking Hawaii’s mandatory 14 days self-quarantine for foreign tourists and returning residents. As per the KITV4 ABC Island News report, Mika came to Hawaii from Manila on 06 July. After four days (10 July), the Hawaii Tourism Authority came to know that she was spotted dancing and going out in public with her friends, which was proven by some videos captured by witnesses. The owner of the place had also confirmed that she was there at that time.

Prior to this, a famous social media influencer posted an apology vlog on her Youtube channel on 23 July, accepting her mistake of going out just after arriving Hawaii. She said in her defense that law officers came to her house and told her that she wouldn’t be in trouble if she tested negative, then she would be permitted to go out. Although, the Special Agents from the Investigations Division of the Department of the Attorney General said that they never advised her that she could break self-quarantine with a negative Covid-19 test.

She mentioned in her video a number that officers reportedly told her she could give out to those who longed further details about her case. As per another KITV report, the state actually ignores such calls as it puts a strain on their operators. Attorney General Clare E. Connors said in a statement, “None of my investigators would convey that information, as it is incorrect. The fact that Ms. Salamanca has so many followers makes her actions that much more dangerous and concerning.” She is from Alabama and was arrested in Waipahu located in O’ahu, Hawaii.
