Memorial Park Protest Live Updates: On Saturday, 30th October 2021, thousands of people have collected at Memorial Park in order to make stand for liberty in New Zealand. This protest is promoted as a peaceful or Freedoms Picnic through social media by The Freedoms & Rights Coalition of New Zealand, the assembly which started at 11:00 AM was decided and planned to be a “peaceful stand for all those anxious with the state of our nation”. The mass that collected stood quietly, peacefully, and calmly listening to speakers and even joining in singing altogether. This silent protest or event follows on the heels of a previous meeting conducted at Coronation Park at Mount Maunganui on Super Saturday, 16th October 2021 where around 450 people were together and attended the event. Some encouraging today’s gathering as a “Tauranga Protest” and promoted their social media followers to “battle for your liberty” by attending the event and coming along to Tauranga Memorial Park. A gypsy fair being conducted concurrently in another side or area of the park also meant that number of individuals in the park expanded further. There were thousands at the gypsy fair, in the spite of a sign stating only 100 people were allowed to be present there at one time.
A Tauranga resident, James stated that the peaceful meeting at Memorial Park was “to discuss the liberties that are swiftly being taken away from NZ citizens. Amongst those liberties is the proposed Water Reform, which is going to affect all Bay of Plenty ratepayers and Tauranga. The government of NZ declared that it is happening with or sans consent of the local Council and ratepayer.

On Tuesday Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern declared a Covid-19 vaccination mandate for businesses in which vaccine certificates are set to be required for entry. This includes events, hairdressers, hospitality and gyms, and barbers classed as close contact workplaces.
