Maria Mendiola Death Reason Yes Sir I Can Boogie Passed Away Died at 69


Maria Mendiola, the singer, and one-half of the Spanish duo Baccara passed away on 11 September 2021 at the age of 69. She was best known to sang the disco anthem Yes Sir, I Can Boogie. She was one of the greatest and renowned singers who had earned so much in her life for her work. She gained popularity as a Spanish duo with Mayte Mateos. Her death news is confirmed by one of her bandmates Cristina Sevilla who took her Instagram account to reveal the news. She wrote a heartfelt message for her stating, “My dear Maria, a wonderful artist but above all my friend left us today… I can only thank so much love for how I have received from you.” All her fans are paying tribute to her by sharing her pictures and videos on social media. Her friends and known ones are sending love and prayers to her family who needs our support and concern.

Maria Mendiola was a singer who was born on 04 April 1952. She was credited to formed Baccara with Mayte Mateos who is also a singer. This female vocal duo was formed in 1977, at that time, the two were flamenco dancers to entertain the tourists on the islands of Fuerteventura. The talent of the two was spotted by a record label executive who signed them with RCA Records in the United Kingdom. The two sang the disco anthem, “Yes Sir I Can Boogie” under the label which was the first single of the duo.

Their first single has achieved international success and placed at the top position in Europe. It has become the best-selling single of all time. It sold over 16 million copies that were achieved for the first time by a girl group earlier. She has made several albums including F.U.N, Face to Face, Singles Collection, Made in Spain, and more.

She made many singles as well such as Call Me Up, Super Sexy Baby, I Belong to Your Heart, Fantasy Boy 2008, and many others. In 2004, the duo appeared in a reality show named “Hit Me Baby One More Time” where the two performed one of the biggest hits with a cover version. Maria Mendiola has died on Saturday.
