They were provided with new identities on the understanding that they had been rehabilitated and will not break the law again. The parents of the toddler have stated, the senseless murder has devastated their family and they spoke up frankly about their struggles to keep going after they lost him and the huge public interest which was there for the family.

Who Is Jon Venables?
The child murderer was born on 13th August 1982 which makes him 10 years old when he abducted the Bulger from the New Strand Shopping center, he was found guilty alongside Thompson on 24th November in the year 1993, the pair became the youngest people to be convicted of murder in the history of Britain.
Seems obvious that online rumours shouldn't lead to trending topics.
But the Venables/Bulger case is such that with new assumed identities, legal wrangling about what we can say and even witness protection, the official word is trusted less than usual.

Venables was provided with extensive rehabilitation during his time in the young offender’s institute and he was issued with a new identity after he left the institute. His identity has been charged twice since then after he compromised his identity and told his friends that he was a convicted murderer.
The other important fact is that, yes, Venables is currently in prison.
He was given a 40-month sentence in February 2018 for possession of indecent images of children.
He was then denied parole in September 2020 and told he will remain in prison at least another two years.

His current identity has faced a legal threat in the month of February in the year 2018, it has been 25 years since the murder happened when the proceedings were launched by Bulger’s father in order to try to remove Venables entitlement to anonymity. As Venables has been convicted for crimes since then, they wanted his lifelong privacy revoked.
Her mother disagrees though and she argued that anonymity should be maintained in order to avoid vigilante justice, the father lost his legal challenge and the Attorney General’s office concluded that the injunction was still necessary and was justified.
Twitter Hoax Says Jon Venables Dead
In the year 2008 which is seven years after being released from prison, he was arrested after a drunken fight and he was given a formal warning but he probation services, he was also provided with caution for being in possession of Class A drug which is cocaine. After two years, he was sent back to prison after he was found with images of child sexual abuse.

The board recommended his release in the year 2013 but in the year 2017 he was again arrested for possessing child abuse images and he was then sentenced to 40 months behind bars in the month of February in the year 2018. It has been 25 years since he murdered Bulger.
