Johny’s son Jandy Ventura confirmed the news of his father’s death and also revealed the cause of his death that a heart attack. 81 years old, Johny Ventura died of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. The Dominican Republic tweeted on their official account, “The Ministry of Culture deeply regrets the death of the great Dominican musician Johnny Ventura. We join the pain that overwhelms his family in these difficult times. His legacy will live on forever in his songs and Dominican culture.”
In 1959, Johny started his music career where he created some of the big hits of all time including Que Se Sepa, La Vida vs la Muerte, La Rubia, Capullo y Sorullo, and Extasis, Sin Desperdicio, Lo Que Te Gusta, 103 Boulevard, and many others. For 4 years, he served as Vice-mayor of the Santo Domingo as well. Then, in 1998, he was selected for the mayor’s position in Santo Domingo where he served for 4 years. He was also the leader of a singing band called Merengue and Salsa.
