An emergency meeting was held organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and they unanimously decided to stop the proceedings of the league for a while as the situation is pretty critical as some of the players are tested positive for COVID-19 and they have done it with immediate effect as it has been stated by the BCCI in a press release, the BCCI has stated that they don’t want to compromise the health and safety of the players, the support staff and the other participants that make the Indian Premier League successful every year, the decision has been taken by them thinking about the safety and well being of all of the stakeholders.

The Indian Premier League’s official Twitter handle has also come out with a post stating that an emergency meeting was held between the BCCI and the Indian Premier League Governing Council and they have unanimously taken the decision of not continuing the league until the situation gets better.

The Kolkata Knight Rider players Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy and the Chennai Super Kings bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and one of the CSK’S traveling staff have been tested positive for the COVID-19 and as per the protocols that are being followed by the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings squad was immediately put in isolation. The times are going to be difficult and especially when you talk about India and while we have tried to bring some positivity and cheer in people’s lives, the fact of the matter is that the situation is getting out of hands and we are playing our part in such crucial times and we will make sure that the players return to their country safe and healthy as this has been stated by BCCI.

The situation has been really irritating with the pandemic going on and the 2nd wave has really affected the people of India and in these desperate times people need to understand their responsibilities too and also the government needs to play its part in such desperate times then only we will be able to fight the battle with coronavirus in full efficiency.
