A piece of saddest news is coming into the headlines about the South African golf legend Gary Players that his wife, Vivienne passed away on Wednesday following a prolonged battle with cancer. Gary is one of the most prominent and established golfers in South Africa. He has gained a huge name and reputation in his whole career in which he has won a number of championships and received the honor for his amazing performances. According to the reports, Gary’s wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June last year and was getting treatment in Santa Barbara, California. GolfRSA expressed their sorrow on Twitter by writing, “It is with a heavy heart that we learned that one of golf’s biggest patrons, Vivienne Player, lost her long and brave battle with cancer. They added that their sincere condolences to her husband Gary, their grandchildren, and their children, family, and friends as well. Vivienne’s friends and dear ones are sending their thoughts and prayers to her family.

On 19 January 2021, Gary tied the knot with Vivienne who was the sister of the South African’s professional golfer Bobby Verwey. The couple had six children, their names are Marc, Wayne, Theresa, Jennifer, Michele, Amanda. Gary has 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In the early days of his professional career, Gary traveled from tournament to tournament along with his wife, children, their tutor, and nanny as well. The elder son of the couple, Marc is the owner of Black Knight International and also operates it.

Gary was born on 01 November 1935 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a retired professional golfer who has won 162 professional golf tournaments and also 9 major championships on the regular tour. He also got 9 victories in the major championships on the Champions Tour. He also won the title of the 1965 US Open at the age of 29. Gary has been given three nicknames- Mr. Fitness, Black Knight, and the International Ambassador of Golf. He is also credited to co-written and authored thirty-six books on the introduction, design, motivation, fitness, and philosophy of golf.
Gary was honored with the President Medal of Freedom by the former President of America, Donald Trump. Gary is a huge supporter of Arsenal and Barcelona.
