Illustrator Garry Vaux wrote on Twitter after hearing his passing news “I am very sad to report that Rick Jones alias Yoffy from Fingerbobs has demised at the age of 84. I at the first interviewed him for my book a couple of years ago and after that, we stayed in touch. Rick was a vast creative spirit, a talented musician, and a lover of life. I will always miss him badly and he always remains immortal in my memories.”

Jones began his career in Television Industry on the BBC children’s show Play School, in which he sang and played the guitar. After that, he went on to star in Fingerbobs, which was first air in the year 1972, and watched Jones making finger puppets and making songs for children. He was also one of many presenters who took turns to present We Want To Sing. Jones also had success as a musician, fronting British country-rock band Meal Ticket.
Jones was born in the month of February 1937 in London Ontario. In his later years, Jones lived in the US in San Franciso with his wife Valerie. In the collaboration with Roger Penycate, he wrote a stage musical based on the songs and lyrics of Meal Ticket entitled “Laughing Daughter”.
