How did Medina Spirit die?
Baffert Attorney Craig Robertson initially confirmed the death to CBS News. The California Horse Racing Board said in a statement that a necropsy is going to be performed at a lab run by the examination and toxicology tests which have been completed, the three-year-old colt died immediately after collapsing near the finish line on Santa Anita’s main track on Monday in the morning, this has been stated by the board.

The colt finished first at the Kentucky Derby in the month of May but the horse was tested positive for anti-inflammatory steroid betamethasone, Medina Spirit went on to get a second-place finish in the Breeder’s Cup Classic and third in the Preakness Stakes.
He got banned from participating in the Belmont Stakes, Baffert got a two-year suspension at Churchill Downs, where the Derby is held, and was also suspended by the New York Racing Associations, on Friday, Robertson said the kind of betamethasone which was given to Medina Spirit which led to the derby, this is not regulated by Kentucky’s racing rules.
