His death news is officially confirmed by his brother, Cormac O’Herlihy, who confirmed Friday to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety that the Irish actor has passed away on 15th September in Bath, England. He rejected to share a reason of his brother died with the magazines, however, he stated that his brother’s death was not connected to COVID-19.

Michael Emptage, the agent of O’Herlihy informed People in a statement that “He was a stunning and wonderful actor with a long and distinguished career in the movie, television, and theatre. Gavan was admired and respected for his directness, his sincerity, and his honesty-he is extremely missed by all who knew him and most particularly by his adoring family and wife.”

Happy Days Chuck Cunningham Actor Died

In the year 1974, at the time of the first season of the ABC sitcom “Happy-Days”, O’Herlihy became the 2nd actor to play the role of Chuck Cunningham, the eldest of the Cunningham siblings, after Ric Carrott played the role in the show’s pilot as per the report of The Hollywood Reporter. Randolph Roberts took over the role for 2 episodes in the 2nd season of “Happy Days” prior to his character from the show without describing. The characters are written off TV shows as though they have never existed, as per the entertainment news magazine.

On Twitter, Ron Howard, who played O’Herlihy’s on-screen brother in “Happy Days” remembered him as “a talented actor with a big free spirit.” o’Herlihy was born on 29th July 1951 and raised in Malibu and Dublin, California, as per The Hollywood Reporter. As a teenager, he was a champion tennis player. After his time on “Happy Days”, O’Herlihy went on to appear in a number of films and television shows, including a role as a villain opposite Sean Connery in the 1983 James Bond movie “Never Say Never Again”.

He also appeared in the 1998 astonishing movie “Willow” which was directed by Howard and in the year 2009 horror film “The Descent: Part 2” among many others. His most recent movie, a tragic romance titled “Queen of the Redwood Mountains,” is presently in post-production. He is survived by his wife, Juliette, and his children, Daniel, Rogan, David, and Lonan.
