Saviola’s longtime friend and actor Harvey Fierstein expressed his mourning on her demised on his official Twitter handle, the actor wrote “She was a friend for 40 years who could always count on for a laugh, a shoulder, or a kick in the ass. The Italian Godmother of Soul! Farewell.” Actor Wilson Cruz retweeted Saviola’s death news and wrote, “What a presence this lady was! Camille Saviola’s cause of death?
Saviola started her career on Broadway. In the year 1982, she marked her debut as Mama Maddelena in the Tommy Tune who directed the musical Nine. She joined and become part of the cast of Chicago in the year 2003. Shortly after the actress hit the stage of Nine with her brilliant acting skills, she made an appearance in Woody Allen’s 1984 movie “Broadway Danny Rose”. Over the next ten years, she worked with Allen two times more for The Purple Rose Of Cairo and Shadows and Fog.
Some of her other movies included Betsy’s Wedding, Addams Family Values, Penn & Teller Get Killed, and Last Exit to Brooklyn. Apart from movies, Saviola also worked in many television shows such as Judging Amy, First Monday and Entourage. She was perhaps best and popularly known for her role as Kai Opaka in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, coming out in 4 episodes from the year 1993 to 1996.
