HMS Bulwark Fuel Theft
According to the exclusive reports, an investigation has been started by the Ministry of Defence police and navy contractors Babcock for the diesel theft from the naval dockyard. The Sun report says that £250,000 of fuel was stolen from the Devonport dockyard in Plymouth. The fuel which was stolen was found in a tanker truck, meanwhile, the assault ship HMS Bulwark was being refitted last year in September, the Ministry of Defence stated. Shadow Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard, Devonport, and Labour MP for Sutton said it was really embarrassing.

The spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence said that the investigation team in Babcock is investigating the case. It was a theft of their fuel and they have help from the Ministry of Defence (MoD). He added that the fuel was in a fuel truck that was assigned to load a fuel tank on a generator in the navy base. The driver of the lorry was a civilian. The generator was eventually to provide electricity to HMS Bulwark while she is in an enlarged upkeep period.
A statement was issued by the Ministry of Defense in which it said that it was “aware of an incident last year involving the alleged theft of fuel from a contractor within HMNB Devonport”. It also added that there was no breakdown of defense operations and the MoD has not made any further comment. On the other hand, Babcock has clearly refused to comment on the matter of the diesel theft. Devonport is the largest naval base in Western Europe and is supporting the Royal Navy since the year 1961. The site covers over 650 acres, four miles of waterfront, and has 15 dry docks, 25 tidal berths, and five basins.
