This lethal virus has taken one more life and add one more name to the death list. This virus took several lives and now Guruprasad Mohapatra is also passed away. One after another prominent figures are dying and the nation is losing its gems. Guruprasad Mohapatra was Secretary of the Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and recently died due to WuhanVirus related complications. He took his last breath at AIIMS on Saturday, 19th June 2021. He was died at the age of 59 and was hospitalized in AIIMS in the mid of April month. Mohapatra is the 1st serving secretary to the Government of India who has died due to this ongoing lethal virus.

After hearing his demised news many prominent figures send their condolences messages to Mohapatra’s family. The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed melancholy over the demise of Mohapatra. Modi shared a tweet on his Twitter handle where he wrote, “Saddened by the death news of DPIIT Secretary Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra. I had worked with him enormously in Gujarat and at the Centre. Mohapatra has a great knowledge of administrative issues and was popularly known for his innovative passion. Deep condolences to his friends and family. Om Shanti.”
Other politicians including Home Minister Amit Shah, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal have expressed their sadness on his demised news. Amit Shah wrote on his Twitter account on the death of Mohapatra ” DPIIT Secretary, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra was a very able, passionate, and dedicated officer of the Government of India. His untimely death is very sorrowful. My prayers and thoughts are with his family in this hour of sadness.”

Goyal said Mohapatra’s long-standing service and commitment to the nation have left a lasting collision. Pradhan stated that India has lost a brilliant administrator after the sorrowful death of the DPIIT Secretary. The Cabinet Secretary stated, “Even after he had contracted with Wuhanvirus and was not well, he continued to work for many hours, working on the supply of the oxygen across the nation, under very crucial circumstances.”
The Chairman of Wipro Rishad Premji stated “Shocked and Saddened after hearing the passing news of DPIIT Secretary Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra Ji. We will always remember him as a committed, warm and capable officer. His death is such a great loss to the whole fraternity. Deep condolences to the family and his dear ones.”
Guruprasad Mohapatra became the DPIIT secretary in August 2019, but before that, he had served as chairman of the Airports Authority Of India (AAI). He was the IAS Officer of a Gujarat cadre 1986 batch and had previously worked as joint secretary in the Department Of Commerce.
