CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife, defense assistant, an IAF pilot, and security commandos were on board the Mi-series chopper when it collapsed between Sulur and Coimbatore which is in TamilNadu. The Chief of Defence Staff was on his route to Defence Staff College in Wellington from the Indian Air Force base which is in Sulur close to Coimbatore. Along with 8 others, he boarded a flight from the state of Delhi to Sulur earlier on Wednesday, 8th December 2021.
