The journalist is a native of Michigan. He was serving as the managing editor in a well-known news channel. He went to Myanmar two years before, at that time the country was looking forward to its emerging democracy. He was returning to his family in Chicago when the tragic violence is happening in Myanmar. As per the sources, the journalist was excited about meeting his family. He planned to surprise his parents. He even texted his wife before landing that they will take selfies after being freed from the airport staff with the Covid-19 protective gear.

However, just after six minutes, the Myanmar security forces arrested him. It was a nightmare for him and his family too as they didn’t interact for 11 days. After which, many journalists hid and attempted to flee the country in anarchy. On 3 November, Fenster’s bail application was rejected by the Burmese court.
