Chandan Mitra, former Rajya Sabha MP and senior journalist has died due to illness. It is the saddest news in today’s highlights. His death has come out as a big loss to everyone. His family members are in grief and trying to deal with this unbearable loss. He was the most popular and well-known personality who had gained huge fame and respect for his work in his career life. His death news is confirmed by his son, Kushan Mitra on Twitter. He wrote, “Since it is already out there; Dad passed away late last night. He had been suffering for a while.” In his post, he revealed that his father had been unwell for some time. Chandan Mitra took his last breathe last late night. He was 65 at the time of his. Talking about Chandan Mitra who was born on 12 December 1955 in Howrah, West Bengal. He was an Indian editor and journalist. He was also the managing director of The Pioneer newspaper in Delhi. From August 2003 to August 2009, he was nominated to become a member of the Rajya Sabha. In June 2010, Chandan was elected in the Rajya Sabha as an MP of the Bhartiya Janta Party from Madhya Pradesh. In the year 2018, he became a member of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Chandan Mitra Passed Away
Chandan completed his education at La Martiniere Calcutta where he also won the Gold medal of Founder in 1971. He was also a batchmate of Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and Swapan Dasgupta in the same school. Three of them attended St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University where Chandan befriended Shashi Tharoor. He earned MA and M.Phil degree in History from Delhi University. He also served at Hansraj College as a teacher for some time.
He was also honored with a doctorate degree at Oxford University where he was also a member of Magdalen College. Chandan Mitra was married to Shobori Ganguly. He also had two sons- Kushan Mitra.
