Benalla Horse Racing: There was a bizarre wet patch which was 200 meters from the winning post which forced stewards to abandon Friday’s Benalla Cup meeting, the meeting was called off by the stewards after inspecting the track. The problem is the remainder of the Benella track was in pristine condition and was rated a good four.

The surface was cleared off for racing which was followed up by separate inspections which took place on Thursday and Friday. However, there was a jockey who came across the issue on the track just 30 minutes before race 1,  when we talk about the policy of Racing Victoria when it comes to abandoned meetings.

The trainers get compensated the standard fee of$550 for each of the horses who are going to be running at Benalla on Friday, there was a snap investigation that took place on Friday which confirmed a malfunctioning sprinkler, the sprinkler was watering sand training track overnight which is a part of a daily maintenance program which was stated as the source of the problem.

The automated sprinkler got stuck in the opposite direction at some point when it comes to overnight which was the cause of the isolated wet patch, the meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday. stewards and Benalla Racing club are confident enough that the affected area is going to dry out for the track to be suitable for racing on Sunday.

The fields are going to be raming as drawn, with all of the scratchings from the original meeting to be reinstated. There is going to be no scratching fee that is going to be applied which is going to make trainers withdraw horses from the rescheduled fixtures. It has been stated that they are hoping all of the participants and owners have been reimbursed for the travel cost.

What has happened at Banella is pretty unusual and everyone is hoping that the owners are presented with the refunds, they should be provided with a week at least until they can run again, it seems like they are doing their best to keep everyone happy but this is something which should have been checked earlier, this has wasted the time of many and this has cost money to many.

This is a developing story and there are going to be more updates about the story in the coming time, we are going to be updating you as soon as something pops up regarding the story.
