The movie is shot almost in black and white, the film starts off showing the year in the month of August in the year 1969, there is a nine-year-old buddy which is being played by Jude Hill who plays in the street, moments later there were windows breaking, there were Molotov cocktails which were flying. Despite the assurance from Pa which is being played by Jamie Dornan, the minority Catholics are living happily alongside the protestant neighbors, the battle lines are getting more difficult to be in, there is a barricade that has been built, and tanks starting to roll in.
Pa was eying a permanent move to England where he works as a joiner, the neighborhood seems to be very strong as everyone knows each other since birth and all of them share a special bond which has kept the neighborhood to have unity and sta ding for each other in difficult times.
The cinematography has been top-notch, the way they have used black and white and the way they have created the sets is just spectacular, the sets and the camera shots are just stunning to look at, the acting has been phenomenal, the actors have given full justice to their roles.
The roles have been played with tenderness by Judi Dench and Ciaran Hinds, even the young actors in the movie and inexperienced actors who have acted in the film have pulled off their roles with ease, the director has managed to capture the essence of those years and there is no denying the fact that the audiences are going to be loving the movie.
This is a movie that is not going to be for everyone, but the people who are into such movies are going to appreciate the pure class of the actors and the whole team who have pulled off such a movie and it seems like this is going to be a special one and is going to be talked about for years.
