Domestic violence is a serious crime and such a shameful act that can put a stain on the honour of earning years. One such serious allegation is made on former TV host Andrew O’Keefe who is currently facing an assault accusation, just over a month after having domestic violence allegations fall on mental health grounds. This news is confirmed by NSW Police who confirmed that the 49-year old was apprehended on Friday afternoon at a Sydney CBD apartment before being repudiated bail to appear prior to Parramatta Bail Court in the morning of Saturday, 11th September 2021.
The former host was charged with assault causing actual bodily damage, common physical abuse, contravening an AVO and opposing an officer in implementation of duty. NSW Police stated in a statement that “Police will book in court that the man was physically involved in an incident which is related with domestic violence with a woman at a house which is in Point Piper on the Wednesday evening of 8th September 2021.”
In the month of June, the ex Weekend Sunrise host had charges on him which was related to domestic violence and this charge was dismissed after a court heard he was in the middle of a manic oscillating episode at the time when he had assaulted his former partner. His advocate successfully contend to have his charges of common assail and physical assault occasioning actual body damage dismissed on mental wellbeing grounds.
Later he informed reporters he was focused on taking care of his health and there was an essential need to protect the entire community from shameful domestic violence. Andrew O’Keefe was arraigned twice assaulting his former girlfriend Dr Orley Lavee in the space for 60 minutes before slapping her he spit on her face, kicking and pushing her to the ground and all this incident happened on 30th January in this year.
The 2nd incident caused wounds and injuries on the lips and back of Dr Lavee, the court heard at that time. Not only this police also withdraw a 2nd common assault charged which was made against him. The ex-White Ribbon ambassador defunct Channel 7 in the month of February after the charges was made on him.
