Jordan informed reporters at the time of a press conference after getting the news that “Honestly, I did not know what to expect because the caliber of talent is so widespread on the show. We have artists that are just beginning out, we have legacy artists that have been serving so many years, and then we have so many different and unique genres along with different places represented. That is reason is because I had no idea what to expect. Obviously, I am so honored and grateful and I consider this a triumph for my home state of Kentucky, which I am so proud to represent.”

Jordan states that the preparation for American Song Contest was quite different than that for The Voice, because tonight, he performed an original song whereas on the singing platform The Voice, he performed cover songs. He remembered that “This is a song that I wrote by myself, I took it into the studio, we tracked vocals several different times to get in exactly right. I worked with different songwriters and producers to bring the song to life to get to where it required to be for the epic singing performance that occurred tonight.”
Even so, he states that by singing an original song, he felt much more accessible, and he had way more nerves than he usually has because he was sharing his news “ugly baby: with the globe and he was not sure how it would be got. Jordan stated, “The song meant so much to me because it came from my heart. But you never realize how it is going to get. But what is really amazing is the fact that Jordan wrote this song one morning in 6 or 7 minutes.
