On Tuesday, a tweet was shared by Central Coalfields Limited which revealed that the Jharkhand girl, Akansha Kumari has become the first-ever female mining engineer who is working in the underground coal mines. CCL is a subsidiary of Coal India, they tweeted, “A graduate of BIT Sindri, Ms. Kumari broke the gender barriers by joining Churi UG mine, NK Area. She became the 1st women mining engineer in the history of CIL to work in underground mines.” As soon as the news went viral on social media, everyone has started wishing her for her success by posting her pictures on social media. Akansha Kumari has created history in all these years of Coal India’s history by joining CCL in the North Karanpura area of Jharkhand at Churi underground mines. The netizens have appreciated the achievement of Akansha by calling her an example of woman empowerment and a source of inspiration. Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi also appreciated Akansha for her success stating that it is a part of progressive governance that encouraged gender equality and helped to produce more opportunities.

Akansha Kumari is the first female mining engineer who is now serving in the underground coal mines, while she is only the second mining engineer in the CIL (Coal India Limited). Akansha hails from Barkagaon in Hazaribagh. She completed her schooling at Navodaya Vidyalaya. Since her childhood, she was interested in mines because she belongs to the mining belt and coal mining activities due to which she decided to study mining engineering at Birsa Institute of Technology.
