Ste Julienne Accident
As per the media reports, the accident has happened after the driver of a sedan lost control of his own vehicle. Sûreté du Québec (SQ) mouthpiece Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau stated that “There is a first vehicle, which is a Ford Taurus, which rolled over and ended up in the ditch prior to finally concluding its course on the centerline of Route 125.” The driver of a cube truck who witnessed this lethal collied attempted to intervene to safeguard the driver of the motor vehicle that was flipped in the middle of the street but without success. Bilodeau stated that “Another small (Volkswagon) Jetta car, traveling southbound, hit the first motor vehicle head-on and pushed it almost to the cube truck. The driver of the first motor vehicle, the Ford Taurus, is currently in very critical condition.”
After this accident, the injured person was admitted to the Lanaudiere regional hospital (CHRDL) which is in Joliette in very critical condition, and was declared dead at the hospital. The spokesperson of SQ stated that “As for the driver of the Jetta, he has injuries that, at first look, are not life-menacing. He was nevertheless admitted to the hospital. For their part, the people in the cube truck were not wounded,” according to the spokesperson of SQ.
Route 12 in Sainte-Julienne was still entirely closed to traffic at the end of the morning, in both the directions, between des Sables St. and the Rawdon limit. The investigators of SQ were on-site to attempt to determine the exact situation of the accident. One assumption is that the driver of the first vehicle attempted to avoid something on the road prior to the first collision, which the investigators of SQ will have to assure. Bilodeau stated that “We are not talking about alcohol or speed, at first sight.” Currently, this much information is available as soon as we find anything we will update here.
