Now she has indicated that she may leave the industry soon. Seema Pahwa believes that the Bollywood industry does not value old-fashioned artists. The veteran actress expressed her displeasure over the current state of the industry and said that the place and respect for creative people in the industry have diminished. She believes that the industry has now become completely commercial, and the industry is now dominated by big businessmen.
Bollywood has become a business of faces
In a conversation with Bollywood Thikana, Seema Pahwa admitted that today, Bollywood has become a business of selling faces instead of telling stories. During this, she also revealed that many times filmmakers call her and ask her to teach new artists the work. But, she refuses to teach anyone the work, because she believes that people who know the work should be given a chance in the industry. In this way, Seema revealed that she will not teach acting to those nepo kids who lack talent so that they can be launched.
My children did not get a chance- Seema Pahwa
Speaking to Bollywood Thikana, Seema revealed that despite being acting graduates and trained in theatre, her children did not get a chance in Bollywood. Seema said, “They feel their decision is wrong. They say whatever we have taught them has no value in the current system. They regret that we made them actors and not stars… We asked them to train more, work more in theatre, and even though they are doing all this, they are nowhere.”
I am not against nepotism- Seema Pahwa
According to Seema, she is not against nepotism, but there needs to be a balance in investment when it comes to star kids. She said, “Why would I say star kids should not come to the cinema? The way I want my kids to grow, others will also have similar expectations, right? But so many actors have trained at FTII or NSD. why are they not being cast in any films? I know a person who is a graduate in acting and a theatre artist, who left acting and the city due to a lack of offers.”
I have to say hello to the industry very soon- Seema
Seema Pahwa further says- ‘A question arises in my mind, maybe I am good, but not so good that a film should be made with me in the lead role. On one hand, there is a complaint, but on the other hand, it seems that I have some limitations. This is the reason why I was not cast in the lead role. I have reached that peak in the industry, where I feel that I will have to say goodbye to the industry very soon. The condition of the Bollywood industry has become very bad. Creative people have been killed, and businessmen have taken over the industry. They want to run the industry with their business mindset, but I do not think that this kind of work can be done in the industry in which we worked for so many years.’
