BTS’s RM and Jimin have been nominated for an American Music Award.
According to the ‘American Music Awards’ homepage on the 24th, RM and Jimin were nominated together in the ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’ category.
This is the first time that the two have challenged for an American Music Award as solo artists. BTS was the first winner in the same category in 2022. At that time, they also won ‘Favorite Pop Duo or Group’, making them two winners in total.
BTS became the first Korean singer to perform at the American Music Awards in 2017. They then made history by winning ‘Favorite Social Artist’ in 2018. In 2019, they won three awards: ‘Favorite Social Artist’, ‘Favorite Pop Duo/Group’, and ‘Tour of the Year’. In 2020, they won two categories: ‘Favorite Social Artist’ and ‘Favorite Pop Duo/Group’. In 2021, they took home the grand prize, ‘Artist of the Year’, as well as ‘Favorite Pop Duo/Group’ and ‘Favorite Pop Song’.
The ‘American Music Awards’ is an awards ceremony that selects the most influential and symbolic artists of the year. It is considered one of the top three music awards ceremonies in the United States along with the ‘Billboard Music Awards’ and the ‘Grammy Awards’. This year’s ‘American Music Awards’ will be held in Los Angeles, USA at 5 PM on the 26th of next month.
